More parameters
Parameters and the way you set them up and use them is one of the most useful features in OMNeT++. You can setup full simulation campaigns with parameter exploration studies that run fully automatically. Here are some further tips and tricks how to use them.
Of course, many different types of parameters can be defined in NED: double, int, string, bool or even a full XML file.
You can also configure default or fixed values like this:
int c = default(5); // new parameter with default value
int c = 5; // new parameter with hard-coded value, cannot be changed from omnetpp.ini
However, be careful with those! If you have many modules and parameters (e.g. when working with INET you will have hundreds!), the default values might develop into a transparency problem. You will have some parameters initialized in the omnetpp.ini and others simply missing there - but how to find out the default value? Better: Do not use default values and instead setup all values for all modules in the omnetpp.ini. To shorten this procedure, you can for example do:
**.triggerYellow = 200
This means: for all modules in the network, set the parameter triggerYellow to 200. Refer to the OMNeT++ manual for more options.
